Sound Checklist[edit]
Preparation[edit]
- Check Planning Center so you know how many mics and what instruments are being used.
- Arrive at least 10 minutes before rehearsal.
- Turn on sound system with Big Red Button.
- Put new batteries in mics, ensuring that Red has only 2300ma batteries if it is being used.
- Put the old batteries in the charger to ensure that they are being charged.
- Setup any direct boxes or instrument mics that may be needed for that week.
- Make sure all monitors are unmuted on mute groups and on layer 2
- Check your sends on fader for all monitors to ensure that all instruments and mics you need that week are unmuted
- Make sure all items being used that week are not hard muted (solid mute light)
- Turn off any FX before starting sound check so you can properly hear how the item is sounding naturally
Sound Check[edit]
- Set the gain on all items to ~-18db (the line between green and yellow under Input:Config.
- Check the compressor settings and make sure it is correct.
- Turn off EQ on each item to start (other than drums) so you can hear a natural baseline.
- EQ that specific item to allow for clarity and minimizing muddiness.
Rehearsal[edit]
- Determine what mix to have for each song, balancing all the elements to blend together.
Service[edit]
- Ensure the recorder is recording before services.
Cleaning up[edit]
- SAVE the sound board settings under show control in case anything gets changed (or to be used for a virtual sound check).
- Put all the microphones away.
- Ensure that the recorder has adequate time to archive the recording.
- Check the SD card to make sure it is not full on the recorder.
- Turn off the sound system.
- As you are leaving, double check that all tvs and projectors are off.
